Art is what "stimulate" you, for any reason. I'd rather tell it this way, because it do not reject ugly pieces. If you get something from art, it's fine, if it's not only money ^^. Art can raise questions (I think of very modern art, Cage pieces in music etc...) but it can just look good. I'm most in music, and I like a Cage composition as I like good old led zep or a jazz chorus.

Art is pleasure, art is pretty, art is just there to look good. Yes I'm sure YOU got it right...As an art student- aspiring artist- i can tell you that art is a lot more then just pleasure. To put it this way- we don't make cool things just for the sake of it, just to get someone to say, awh, how pretty. And Pollock is saying a lot more then, oh look, a pretty splat.

SIMPLY splashing paint was NOT all that pollock did- before he was an abstract painter, it was only later that he developed his unique style which he rememberd for today, and is rememberd for the reason that it is unique.

I think that the most important points are that what is produced looks good (to me), and I reckon that it's a please for Mr Pollock to do this. He produce something he likes and people can appreciate it. There's no need to make it more complex. Art is pleasure |
