Root implies a physical relaxed sinking of the body that through training will subconsciously adjust to maintain your grounding in combat. Root is important in both attack and defense. If you practice some standing post Qi gong then learn some push hands then you can experience this "rooting" for yourself.

Lenard Hudson, I've studied various fighting arts, trained with rangers and berets, trained the Detroit Police (Knife and Baton),trained with Herb Perez (T.K.D. Gold Medalist), and I'd like to say, that I've watched some of your footages and I know where you are coming from when you speak about moves that are not realistic, so yes I teach and have taught for over 8 years and have won competions and also have been disqualified for whipping a large opp.

One must be rooted, for example even while one steps... don't ask. But it has to do with dynamic relaxation and excitation of muscles that can best be achieved through drills and qi gong.

when u talk abt root, does it mean to be aware of ur balance, being able to move with stability?? cos the word "root" sounds so abstract that i think as if u have to be "rooted" on the same spot to the ground
