If it were two cars hitting each other then, yes it would. Since the train has its own lane, there is probably a train signal to the left side of the tracks where the camera can't see it.We have a very similar system here in Portland where at some intersections, all vehicle signals go red but the train gets a vertical white bar indication which tells them to proceed.It is possible that the train ran a light, it wouldn't be the first time.

If they're sharing the road, surely they need to obey the traffic lights. If the light was red in the train's direction, wouldn't this suggest the car it hit had a green?

I find it stupid to put it with traffic. I can imagine what every train driver is thinking, 'Please don't cross, please don't cro-----noooo!' They should make it mandatory to slow down on approaching intersections. Which would effectively slow overall train speed.

What were these motorists thinking? Couldn't they wait for 30 seconds instead of putting their lives at risk. I guess this is what happens when you have a society that is in a rush all the time

How often do you check your left side mirror before making a left hand turn?All the fuckin' time. You don't mess around with fate when you are driving. Not only do I look at the side mirrors, I actually look over my shoulders to check blind spots before I make any sort of turns.
