C'est en principe du Français.Je suis Français, et je ne comprend rien à ce qu'elles chantent. Croyez vous aussi qu'elles savent ce qu'elles chantent.

I'd never considered that, but it makes sense. For example, imagine how hard Opera would be using a bushman language with clicking sounds in it.

It's from the opera Lakme and is the main character and her servent are going down to the river to gather flowers. The opera itself is a tragic love story and centers around the british rule in india in the late 19th century

having done this piece for competition, I can promise you its not only intensely difficult, but the French is a big part of why it is so freaking hard. in order to sing, you need to open your mouth wide and keep your soft palate arched- to speak French properly, its the opposite. hence, the French sounds like crap when you do the song. you have a choice- nice notes or nice words. very hard to do both.

Diction is garbage... and she's damn loud.

So now bcause u say it can't be a great performance, it's fact. That would be opinion. If ur trying 2 sound smart, don't. Anybody can pick up a book and tell exactly what ur talking about. (attempting 2 sound smart and intelligent......fail). Who gives a fuck about what they're doing anyway. It's called an "interpretation". Not every musical piece has 2 go exactly how u envisioned it, or first heard how it was "standardly played".FUCK! Now i have to look like an idiot 4 arguing with you online.

The French pronunciation is a total disaster... glad to see with that I'm not the only one to notice. Also, the mezzo completely loses track of her harmony notes on her last iteration of "Ah! Descendons ensemble!"--she's actually singing in unison with Lakme for 2 measures! And what's with the strange rubato in the "Nous appellent/Viens descendons" lick in the second "A" section? This can NOT be considered a great performance. If you thought so, sorry, but you just don't know the difference.
