hichez: I think it's probably for a live recording or something. Or, maybe it's patched into his band members' earphones for volume control on their instruments?

well, many people think that trumpet is very loud, but in fact it isn`t.A sax is much much louder and you cant hardly damping the loudness.Best regards from Hamburg Germany

This was recoreded for a DVD ... you can find it at amazon ... hope that solves the "why the hell does he have a mic" question ..

I know i may not have experience but im know no idiot. Of course you have to use mic to record but its not used for amplification reasons. Plus other than the drums the basses done play to frequently in this particular song. But then again I dont know how big the room is so you might be right.

You've obviously never played trumpet with a an electric guitar, electic bass and drums... He wouldn't be heard without a mic, and in order to record him he needs a mic too.... Hope that answers your question...

Man chris always sounds great. But why does he need a microphone hes a professinal trumpet player
