I completetly disagree with that statement, Emmy rossum is a very talented woman, afterall she was only sixteen when she did this role. She was also kinda rusty from not opera singing in a while, because she had stopped for a while, but overall she is a VERY talented singer, one of the best!

Fair point, but i'd imagine they enjoyed taking someone who wasn't 100% there and coaching them to exaclty what they wanted, someone new to the role rather than something people may have seen before at the theatre. The fact she's pretty is a bonus, not the only reason.

wow. it just confirms my previous belief that she only got the part because of looks. yeh she's nervous, fair enough, who wouldnt be. but to cast someone that cant sing in tune or do the coloratura at the end justice in a role as vocally demanding as christine daae is a complete mystery to me. and ive known many nervous singers perform and never had problems like that.i bet the production team thank their lucky stars for digital enhancement!!!

yea that's true.

She's blatelently abit nervous tho, 16yrs and in front of Lord Weber. She's really talented, and she's pretty.

definately agree.she sounded waaaay better in the movie.

First of the, the sound quality on this clip is awful so please don't think this is how she sounds, nervous or not. Emmy did perform on stage professionally for a number of years so she knows her singing. Oh, and she has both perfect pitch and perfect intonation and a pure 4 octave range plus a bit at the ends so she can sing for real and do it better than a lot of the other people with that claim to fame.

You care because my friend is not ugly, and therefore not all Germans are ugly, and in conclusion I say that you are highly offesive, rude, and predgiduce. (In case this doesn't show up under the original message because it fails to do so a lot for me, then this is a replying statement to something posted a month ago.)

I thought she was excellent and I have seen the Broadway play numerous times.

You have to understand guys, you cant compare the movie to the Broadway version. First of all, broadway and live shows are based more so on pure talent, and looks arent a HUGE issue. In movies, however, looks matter a lot. Christine is supposed to be beautiful and look exactly like the part, Which Emmy Rossum does, and of course, her voice can be adjusted, that is why they call these SCREEN TESTS so they can see how she looks on a camera. So everyone stop whining. |
