The song NOT included in the theatrical release of the film, "If I Never Knew You," though put into the release of the 10th Anniversary Edition DVD.I love this song, and I am SO glad they put it back in. Makes the whole scene much more effective. Also, this is my first Youtube upload, soo...Yay me! And if you notice the audio to be a little crackly, I do apologize.[EDIT] To answer some of the questions in the comments, this song was originally intended for the film and was almost finished, when Disney ran the movie (with the song) to a few test audience, and the younger--read, the kid--audience pretty much started squirming during this song, probably wanting to get back to the action. However, the song performed well with the teen and adult audiences. (Taken from the SE DVD's commentary.)Also, YES, that is Mel Gibson singing. He also does all of the rest of John Smith's singing in the movie. Surprising, I know. If you doubt, just listen to the speaking voice. Same vocal quality. Sure, Judy Kuhn sings the pants off him, but he's not bad.[EDIT #2] Finally, I've gotten around the putting the download links for both the song and the video seen here. For the video: http://files.filefront.com/If+... the song itself: http://files.filefront.com/If+... you guys enjoy! And, this is the last edit...I think.

I wish they would have kept this scene in the movie. But even so, POCAHONTAS is one of my fav films.

the point is she met Jon Smith and John Rolfe so this story did have some truth to it...and a 12 year old marrying someone who's more then twice her age was quite normal in that time....and this is disney! Do you honestly think they would make John Smith say, "Hey lads! Guess what? I slept with Pocahontas! you know the daughter of the chief? I scored big!" I don't think so...

But in real life way back when pocahontas was alive she married john rolfe and they had a kid 2gether. the kid was only 2 years old when pocahontas died and pocahontas(whose real name is matoaka but they nicknamed her pocahontas because it means playful one) died whe she was 21 in 1616. John rolfe died 6 years later. his death is unknown. He may have been killed by indians or got sick like how pcahontas died from smallpox. Pocahontas was only 12 when she met john smith and pocahontas was like 12

wait so y john smith claim he had sex with pocahontas when she was twelve?! did that really happen with the real pocahontas?
Roxanneactress (September 6, 2008 at 12:10 pm)
i know, it doesn't make any sence that she's so in love with John here and at the start of the next one, and then all of a sudden she loves Rolfe- wiered!

wow. I learned something today..I always wondered why that song was just used as a theme and not actually in the movie.

haha what? where did you learn your history? pocahontas and smith were never together, she was like 12 at the time and he was in his 30's.
