What if there is no matter? That is an interesting question. Not sure if that would disprove science, though. The matter tends to be what we see around us. If there was no matter, life would probably not exist as people know it.

Jesus is the truth. Read the bible as had as you read the crapload of human ideas (science).

Science and religon don't mix. You can't try and find a scienific theory to religious beliefs. For example people have tried to prove that the moses/God couldn't have made the nile river turn to blood. They say its the silt on the bottom of the nile....I dont believe it. I beleive that God really did turn thr nile into blood. Do you get what I am trying to say?

the problem is, science works on their little bit to move forward. religion has its ideas and keeps them that way.

Do you believe that religion has actually helped us "further our nature of being or quantify consciousness"? I would consider that statement a complete joke. Postulating a deity that put everything this way does not explain anything. You are flat out wrong that the bible lays out a framework to live a better life as demonstrated by the countless atheists that live "good lives" by any standard.

listeningriffin, Philosophy and psychology represent science's attempts to quantify the nature of being. Theist's aren't experts or qualified to talk with any authority on any subject other than their particular "Holy" book. Let's not placate religion by donating it a "domain" rather than dare to be impolite and state that it's beliefs are outdated, irrational and of no use.

scientists dont try to discover the nature of being? are you serious? and you think religious people do? dude, wake up. religious people dont discover things, they know allready dont they??

Yes, I believe neither party knows it all. Saying that, I believe atheists are more able to believe in a god than a believer is to belief in no god. Most religion believes in blind faith and if you doubt there is a god than your believe is weak. On certain level religion is brainwashing.

I dont think the bible, the Koran, the Zohar,... should tell us how to build an airplane. I believe that religion challenges you to be the best "you" you can be, so that you can find joy in inventing a better plane. If everything is given to us we can not experience joy.

You are eloquent, and quite rational, but I REALLY have to disagree that the question to whether or not there's a supernatural being that can BREAK laws of physics at whim is fundementally a science question.Using a philosophy of constructive skeptisim in all things is a good thing (aka scientific method).Read Sam Harris. You'll prob like what he has to say. |
