What do I know?? I know EVERYTHING!! Well maybe not quite, but I DO know that this thread is a dud, and guys like you are hero worshippers. Total waste of time. Enough said, as this is going nowhere. Too bad you cannot see this

Ask Gordie Howe, ask Montreal Gazette HOF NHL columnist Red Fisher, and then ask HOFer Milt Schmidt. Between those three guys, they've witnessed NHL hockey from the 1920's to the present, and ALL three of them say Bobby Orr is the best player they ever saw. Compared to them, what exactly the hell do YOU know that they don't? I'll take their word for it, thanks. END OF STORY.

A team of 5 Bobby Orrs would beat a team of 5 Gretzkys or a team of 5 of Anyone Elses. No player of any professional team sport ever CONTROLLED games like Orr did. No other professional team athlete made fools of the opposition to the point where crowds could be heard audibly laughing, both at Boston Garden and on the road. You know you're watching greatness when you're watching something you've never seen before or since. That would be Bobby Orr. END OF STORY.

There is a mythic thing about how Bobby Orr played the game. I was a Ranger fan in the day, and we held up Brad Park as our Orr, but there was really no comparison. It's something like in Old Man and the Sea, where the main character dreams about lions playing on the beach. There is something so fluid and beautiful about how Orr played what is granted a very violent game -- and that is captured so well here -- that when you think about it makes you sleep happily at night.
