Hey what a song! How about these lyrics:I go to the gas station-to pump some gasI stick it in the exhaust pipe-like you do your a**-People begin to wonder-how can I be so dumb-but this analogy I am showing-is just good old fasion fun-Who cares if it is unhealthy-because I have my rights-to display my stupidity-and senseless logic to new heights-This song that I wrote-is done in a certian way-to remind your time is comming which is your judgement day.

He's like Buddy Holly and Bill Mahr rolled into one supreme being. Kudos on calling like it is

You don't know how goddamn insulting your comments are.

It's also the sin problem, because sin is death, as the scholar says. Christianity can become fixated on sin, corruption, and death. Viewed from the outside it can be a very grim religion. Not always, but often enough that you would notice. The part that I find sad is that you seem to have such an awful, and innacurate, view of humanity as lazy, evil, and just bad. That just isn't true. People are good, too.
leonheart00 (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
Well, it sounded like you were implying us to be a murderous band of hateful people. By the way Christians only focus on your punishment after death because they feel like they need to protect you from it. You are right about one thing, people need to focus on something other than the hellfire and brimstone. Sure it exists in the scripture that we follow but as the main character said to the Bob's in office space.. people will only work hard enough to not get fired. (or something like that)
sethmanapio (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
There actually is a difference between referring to your CREED in unflattering terms and accusing EVERY MEMBER of being evil. You accused ALL humanists of wanting to harm people of faith. I never accused all christians of wanting to do anything at all. I never attacked you at all, nor did I attack your ideals. I just said that you were focusing on my impending punishment after death, which was true... and sad.

Dude, you still don't get it. This argument is not, and has never been, about whether there is a god. This argument is about whether CHRISTIANITY, the institution, the religion, the man made structure of churches and creeds and activist groups, is peaceful and wonderful. And it CAN be, but it doesn't HAVE to be. Sometimes it sucks, and Falwell was an example.

You have the right to believe what you want, I have that same right. Truth is, I am probably wasting my time because it is clear to me that God doesn't reveal himself physically to mankind for a reason, my attempt to disprove you and prove him defeats the purpose. I wouldn't have even argued this long had I not felt like I was defending my God's honor, but now that I look into it.. I don't need to. Do take care Seth, I hope you the best.

If God walked up to you and slapped you in the face you would probably say he wasn't real. That's fine, if you ever get in a time machine and witness the parting of the red sea and say... oh gee it was a coincidence not a miracle.. fine. All I am doing to providing an example of how it feels to have "hate spewed" on your ideals, when you go off and call Christianity a death cult it is a pretty harsh attack on me for not believing what you believe. I am sure ive done the same as well. |
