Ahi refers to two species, bigeye tuna (Thunnus obesus) and yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares). In Hawaii, shibi is another name for yellowfin tuna. The yellowfin gains its name because the soft dorsal and anal fins and finlets are bright yellow in color. The dorsal and anal fins lengthen with age. Yellowfin range from the ocean surface to depths below 100 fathoms.

so eating whale meat isn't illegal in the united states. does that mean that some american can buy fresh whale meat from japan, norway, or sweden, and not get prosecuted by the authorities.

bluefin tuna is the land of Nipon is very expensive. couple hundred to a couple of thousand dollars for a piece there. no wonder he was removing any meat from the bone.

i don't think whale killing is wrong. i'm not against whale killing. i'm neutral about whale killing. i would eat whale meat in some other country. if i had some whale meat in the USA, i'd go to prison.

japan is not the only country in the world, that catches whales then eats them. it is also canada, russia, norway and sweden. do you know whales can be eaten raw as sushi and sashimi. i found out that raw whale meat is served as sushi and sashimi, in some sushi bars in norway and sweden.

sharks are probably decreasing because of finning: an illegal practice of poaching sharks for their dorsal fins, by removing it, then they throw the finned sharks back in the water. the shark is unable to steer itself underwater, so it drowns. why can people eat the whole shark, instead of just eating it's fin in a soup called "shark fin soup".
