Hey man! great tone! Would be awesome if you could do a demo of your pedals (Katana, Blues Driver). I am trying to find the "Mayer tone" and im struggling trying to figure out which pedals to buy. John has so many pedals and im trying to find out which ones is essential for his tone. The Katana seems like an essential part(!)(?) Thanks man.

This is some great stuff .. and coincidentally I have nearly the same gear: Glas 30, Katana, Keeley Comp, etc. ... easy for great clean, but I am REALLY trying to avoid overdrive pedals because I LOVE the Savage tone ... so hard to get when I can't open up the master volume at practice. Using a Blackstone at the moment. Thanks for your great clips.

hey man! this is with the amp pre very low, master cranked, keeley compressor on, then the BD2 gain 9oclock, katana on to saturate the pre section.
robojim4000 (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
so is this with just the katana boost, or is this with the BD-2 as well?

Wanna know something funny - I played that exact amp the day I bought the Box of Rock just right after Christmas at Willies. Its a hell of a store eh? If I can offer anything - the Blitz doesn't show its muscle on low volumes - crank that master and you'll find the true meaning of Savage.

Sounds beautiful. I just tried that same amp at Willies American Guitars about a week ago. Same color, used. It's got me thinking.Nice playing too!

Thanks for the comments man! As far as the Katana, I struggled with it at first, finding the right volume setting and the boost on or off, combining that with the pre setting on the Blitz - it was tricky at first. Now, having it dialed in, I can't imagine not having - it pushes the Blitz just over of where I like it to produce that strong clean you hear in this clip. Anything else man, let me know!

Hey, Man, That is the best guitar tone I think I've heard on youtube, and I've searched for them all. Savage doesn't really have any postings. Maybe, you should ask for a job. Why did you choose the 50 over any of the others? Just curious. Also, is the Katana worth buying? Keep Jammin....
