Silversun Pickups

Sure they're from LA, but Bay Area scenesters have embraced the Silversun Pickups as one of their own. Perhaps it's their powerful, passionate melodies and driving rhythms (that call to mind early Smashing Pumpkins, especially the potent hit "Lazy Eye") -- that have fans, DJs and bloggers foaming at the mouth. And pals Brian Aubert (guitar/vocals), Nikki Monninger (bass), Christopher Guanlao (drums) and Joe Lester (keyboards) are poised to keep the momentum going. Fresh off a stint with Wolfmother and an electrifying performance on David Letterman, the indie rockers prepare to hit the road with Snow Patrol and OK Go. As one friend put it: "This may be the last time you see the Silversun Pickups in an intimate venue." This is the Silversun Pickups at Popscene.Learn more about them here: www.silversunpickups.com

They use a lot of somewhat distorted guitars and open strings like Smashing Pumpkins. They aren't too similar, they just share a similar guitar sound.
