If anybody could rock harder on guitar than Hubert Sumlin, it was Willie Johnson. Good lord, listen to that fat fuzzy tone!

When I went to Sun, I wanted to see it because of the Wolf, not Elvis. Went upstairs and bought a Johnny Ace picture. This is my favorite Wolf song. "Do not worry--daddy's gone to bed." So scary.

I was there on Sun Aug 30. Our tour guide was a thin guy who wore jeans and a flannel shirt. He demonstrated how Johnny Cash go his guitar sound by placing a dollar bill between his strings and neck on the guitar for Folson Prison Blues. If that was you, thanks for the great tour! The black lady who sold me CDs was a real sweetheart too.

I work @ SUN Studio in Memphis and I can never get tired of listening to the Howlin Wolf where he recorded. At that time, when he recorded this song, it wasnt SUN...It was the Memphis Recording Service. |
