One of the judges commented that Clay sang a safe song (while Ruben had just performed "Imagine"). But I read somewhere that HTE is actually a more difficult piece to sing because of greater transitions in the melody.Even if he didn't win, Clay is the most remarkable Idol ever.

Oh, wow, amazing! His voice is in a class unto itself. Why did the show mess up the lighting so badly? This performance should have been a stellar showcase.
