"A bullshit stat"?!? Did you freely take those clueless pills or were they force-fed to you as a child? As far as the "right mix" goes, that's why I mentioned Isiah's all star assists. The main point here is that Isiah was easily the better point guard of the two. If you don't know that, then your knowledge of the NBA is clearly limited to the 90s and onward. What I wanted was the best available players from the NBA, not the second or third best and certainly not some college player.

You still have to play together aand have the right mix. I see you are a stat watcher ("9 assists per game in all star games"?). Talk about a bullshit stat. Who cares? I think the results were great, don't you? Did you want to beat Angola by 75 instead of 50? People a lot smarter than you picked the team so can we drop this now....

The Dream Team was supposed to be about the best players in the game, not which men would make the best political candidates.I don't see how you could think Stockton was a better fit. All you really need to look at are Isiah's All-Star numbers. He handed out about 9 assists per game. Isiah played very well among his superstar peers. Isiah-led teams beat Jordan's Bulls, Bird's Celtics, and Magic's Lakers for 2 titles. It's about the best available coming together to win for their country.

Personality and politicking had a lot to do with it I'm sure. Isiah was not short on enemies in the league. I still think Stockton was a better fit on this type of team of superstars - including for his own teammate Karl Malone. I'm obviously not alone in thinking that is that is what happened. Doesn't matter. Gold was automatic either way.

I know that Olajuwon hadn't yet obtained American citizenship but that's beside the point. He was a much better center than Ewing. The misconception about Dominique is that he was merely an exciting dunker. Completely false. He had a great all around game and was a phenomenal talent. He would have fit right in on that team.Isiah is hands down the better point guard. Better shooter, ball handler, passer, quicker. Isiah was not a selfish point guard by any means. And I know about Laettner.

Isiah Thomas or Stockton was fine with me. John Stockton was a great pure point and when you have a bunch of guys like this, having a PG who doesn't look to score himself (unlike Isaiah) probably worked better. Dominique was exciting but not needed on a team like this and I Olajuwan may not have been a US citizen. They wanted a college player which is why Laetner was on it.

I agree. However, it could have been even better. You replace Laettner, Stockton, and Ewing with Wilkins, Thomas, and Olajuwon.THEN you would have had the very best available at that time. The Supreme Dream Team. Also of note, look how the Americans walked off the court after the win. No celebrations. Just another day at the office. With the exception of Barkley and his thuggish behavior, this was a very classy group of individuals.

Greatest team of pure talent ever...in any sport period.

lets do the math Jordan -6Pippen-6Magic-5Bird-3 Robinson-2 (or3 i cant remember)Drexler-1that's between 23-24 rings that just about 2 rings per player on that squad. how about MVP awards?Jordan-5Bird-3Magic-2Malone-1Barkley-1Robinson-1A total of 13 trophies that would be 1 trophy for every player on that team. DAMN
