Caballé was one of the great singers of the 20th century; check out her recording of Amalia's aria "Lo sguardo avea degli angeli" from Verdi's I Masnadieri: a paragon of bel canto singing. Performances like this - cheap, self-adulatory, flat half the time and pandering to the lowest imaginable audience taste - do nothing to honor either her reputation or the state of the art itself. Let's hope that when she dies, embarrassing displays such as this will be suppressed.
