From the end of the opera. After singing this bruiser of a role, MacNeil hits the high note beautifully.

There is another amazing baritone superhigh singer also by the name of cornell.........but he can sing like an octave above this......check out the video " chris cornell 4 octave range"

Well, I'm not sure what that means because he nailed this ending.

Giorgio Tozzi said it best: "I think Cornell stayed a bit too long at the feast."

Yes, Milnes did study with White, who was a student of Sidney Dietsch, who was Warren's teacher. I'm still trying to dig up Dietsch's lineage...

Milnes a singer who sings flat as often as the sun comes up?First rule of thumb for any singer of any genre!Good ear! Milnes couldn't carry Warren's music! Most would argue that Warren sits way atop any of those baritones you mentioned but Merrill was a great baritone!Warren's sound not to your taste but listen to the power, ease, and support of tone in all those difficult verdi arias.I think you are selling Warren a bit short.Music opinions are so personal and I appreciate your noted comments!

I know what he did to sing those high notes...!

I'm not surprised, I've always regarded Milnes, Warren's successor.

Interesting you make this comparison with Warren and Milnes. They both came from the same 'school of singing.' My first voice teacher studied with Andrew White of CCM who was from the same school. It just didn't work for my baritone voice. (more lyric) Mark Oswald, another more recent MET singer, studied with Andrew as well.

Yes it is. He's not amazing throughout, but this part was great.
