Yes very true. But if everyone played an unaccompanied piece that way, all the recordings would be the same. Keeping to the music works well when you are playing in a Baroque, Renaissance, or sometimes classical chamber group where there are to many people to "bend" the music.

I played this godforsaken concerto for three miserable years. Although I won multiple competitions with it, it kind of ruined classical music for me and drove me to rock n' roll forever. She plays beautifully, and I hope she enjoys what she is doing, and doesn't do it for the sake of her teacher, like I did.
