There's about 15 different videos on here explaining how to properly play Punch Out. It explains how much damage certain punches take off or certain combos hit for more damage than others. Before you make a comment and look like an idiot, because you could never beat the game as a kid (or now), don't put down someone who HAS figured out the game isn't just pressing left, right left, right until you make a hit and put the guy down.

It's not necessarily a cheat code, but more of an access code. It doesn't give Mac any special powers, but just gives Mac direct access to Tyson. It's a real code that's built into the game.

Without any cheat codes, you cannot TKO Tyson/Mr. Dream in the 1st round!!!! Without any cheats, Little mac's punches take off little to nothing of the guy's energy! Try it yourself!
