Good post, but keep in mind there was NO other cycling EVER seen in the US before this, except a few seconds of Olympic highlights. So for us on this side of the pond to get a full half-hour of a race like this on TV was something special. Looking back, it is hokey, but John Tesh gets a lot of credit as he loved the sport and helped promote it in the US and get it noticed as best he could. These videos thus have a lot of nostalgia to old guys like me.

Not only that, but John Tesh was also the host of Entertainment Tonight for years, before he quit to focus on making new age music. He sucks.

The commentary is kinda strange because in the US they wouldn't show the whole race. The would do the highlights with the cheesy music and then just show the end. The whole program would take an hour. The announcer is a guy named John Tesh.. and if I am not mistaken.. he also composed the music. He composed a lot of the cheesy synth stuff for the Olympics and other broadcasts in the U.S.

I think this US commentator is HILARIOUS!!! Fantastic. Having to explain the drama just in case people don't get it. And as for the power pop in the background. Madiot had such class.
