Jaco played the space man. It emphasizes the groove a lot more when he comes back does it not?

I believe the steel drummer is Othello Molineaux (spelling?). Jaco loved the sound of the steel drum and originally wrote his Holiday For Pans album to feature Molineaux. It's a great show of traditionally non-jazz instruments used in jazz. This song has a calypso-jazz feel in the congas and bass, but Molineaux played with the band on other albums and tours as well.

i couldn't hear any steel drum. ;)
