KulaA Shaker- I believe what Barenboim was saying is that if two cannot maintain a tolerable relationship even while they are seperated, how can they maintain a relationship while they're combined? Look at Shakespear's Romeo and Juliet for example; The Capulets and Montagues didnt like each other before Romeo and Juliet married (while they were 2 seperate families)..So, how would they act if they were one big family?....

Both Said and Barnboim are respect commanding people with great skill and experience; at the same time, they are both very clueless.

Its nice to see two towering figures of different cultures discuss things. Either this is deliberate or not, but they both seem to be vague about the issue of a one or two-state solution. I suspect, it is more deliberate than not. Barenboim only revealed he supported a two-state solution after Said started speaking about a one-state solution; and this after Barenboim was explaining for a long time during this interview the importance of togetherness and avoiding separation. RIP Edward Said.
