He took 10% of Bush Voters my friend. He's the strongest anti-neocon alive. For him to get 10% of the Bush voters is a victory my friend.

Iowa is a state with 68% approval of George W Bush whereas nationally Bush has about 32% approval. Thus on the onset, Iowa is not a friendly state to Ron Paul. Still, Ron Paul was within 3% reach of 3rd place, and among independents in Iowa, he won. There are a lot more independents in New Hampshire.

Ron Paul spent less time in IA than Julie-Annie. Ron's 5th place still earned him 2 delegates (to Julie-Annie's 0)Ron's 5th place finish was within 3% of McCain and Thompson. It is a long, tough, row to hoe, but we have traction. Our efforts are yeilding results - not enough results yet, but motion in the proper direction. More phone calls, more money, more effort. Dr. Paul has told us what he needs.

inarag,Results are surprising, Iowa has large agro business that is subsidized by the U.S. taxpayers. Dr. Paul is against subsidies and NAFTA. At this moment the cost of corn has plummeted as tariffs are lifted by NAFTA and U.S. corn is shipped south. Mexican farmers livelihood are whithering away. Mexicans who's lives are impacted by the American taxpayer subsidizing large corporations, hurting both Mexicans and Americans. Here comes another wave of poor Mexicans. Dr. Paul did great.

inarag,Good question, and the complete answer is quite long and not all negative. One of the things RP supporters should take from this first contest, is that getting Dr. Paul nominated is not going to be easy. They are going to have to work harder and smarter. One step in working smarter is to follow RP's example and use some class when responding to the naysayers. Also, learn as much about Dr. Paul as possible so their responses reflect his positions. |
