Rumors like that really just spawned from his bizarre antics when he performed. Paganini would roll his eyes into the back of his head and acted as if he was possessed for shock value. It worked quite well for the time period too!

It was sarcasm. No research neccesary. I'm quite aware that those guitar parts were recorded by Vai and Cooder. As if Ralph Macchio can play the guitar... he can barely even act.Although his performance in My Cousin Vinnie was riveting.
