that was sort of airy and intangible seemingalso volume was too low throughout and i didnt really understand how the dots and graphs related to the music, although clearly they were connected so it was neat to have visual with the audio i supposethis wasnt nearly as bad as stuff by webern or berg for sure, at least this had a rhythm and was recognizbly musical

Pooter crashed before I finished. Sorry. I know Penderecki isn't electronic but I meant to say he was firmly in their camp for a while, trying for the same thing with traditional instruments. But I would agree he's not as original as some.

Everyone stands on the shoulders of giants but composers in this genre - and at this time - such as Reich, Varese, Ligeti etc., really have no progenitors. They were exploring a new technology that had no precursor. I can't imagine of whom Penderecki might have been derivative in these circumstances.
