That is an ignorant response. In USA it is illegal to distill any spirits without proper licenses regardless if you sell it or not. It is this way because if a person was to do it legally they would have to pay for licenses, taxes when distilling and selling, which in turn would make the government a good chunk of change from all the distilleries. Please keep posting your comments, your ignorance cracks me up.
