My guess is it's the german pronunciation.Rudolf Diesel developed the practical Diesel engine in 1893. Probably pronounced his name with the "Z" kinda' caught on I'd say!

Kudos to him! That must have taken soooo much patience.Very nice collection. I'm looking for a simple '52 A or earlier B. Grew up with those beauties. Any way you look at it...those units are not cheap.

I know the man very well and can assure you that it was nothing but hard work over many decades that enabled him to buy those 'nice green toys'. It certainly was NOT a windfall or inheritance.
