I sang with Dame Joan in Philadelphia back in the '70's. She had been my idol since I was 12. It was the most amazing experience. I sang in the chorus for "La Traviata" and "Maria Stuarda." What an amazing voice and amazing experiences for me!!!

I agree with your second comment. In fact, one of the remarkable things about Sutherland's performances were that one got the impression there was so much voice in reserve that she could immediately sing the whole opera again! Same with artists such as Nilsson and Flagstad (on live recordings). Despite the diction problems, this performance is splendid from the perspective of sheer voice and brilliant technique.
