IMHO, the genre is more evolved from the 2step, garage, and d'n'b, than just reggae-dub. Dubstep applies the elements, (i.e. mixing techniques, etc) characteristic of dub music to the genres from which it evolved, while incorporating a number of other genres as well. It's in this way I would say that "these guys in London" created this genre. There are far more genres "created" in order to sell units, which have less variation from the norm. I'm from the US though, so I'm no expert.

isn't dubstep just an electronic style evolved from dub which evolved from reggae?i'm not sayin its the same, just that its the same concept..not created by these guys in london.

i just started listening to dubstep like 2 weeks ago and i am really feeling it. It reminds of old school hip hop where they slowed down the pace. I see myself filling up my ipod with this crazy shit.

when i first heard dubstep i thought 'wow' and whenever i hear it again i sill think the same.dubstep realy is the genre of today. some might r and b or some shit like that , if someone says that to you, their lying.

Went to a glitch-hop party last night. Also, heard Dubstep for the first time. Music drove me wild. It's JUST what I need. Dark, broken beats that just engulf your entire mind & body. Lovin' this!
