I agree. It would be like people telling you that we don't need orchestras anymore because we have VST instruments that can simulate them damn well... It's like saying the LA Philharmonic is obsolete because of VST.

I remember all those films we'd watch in elementry school that were made pre 1980, and thats the sound of the theme music from a lot of those educational videos.

this is a pretty good advertisement for the Minimoog.

Impressive. Now I wish I knew more about keyboards

While this is certainly true for some, it is not true for those of us who seek that which defines the desirability of the Minimoog. Simulations not only lack the expressive interactivity, but also lack both the unique, desirable tone AND the flaws/variability/unique functional behavior of analog circuits.

A good substitute for one of these would be hooking up a MIDI keyboard to you computer and then using a VST that simulates the minimoog. It's pretty much the same thing (depending of the quality of the VST) and the only downside is that you don't get to turn all those knobs by hand. lol.

I'm just saying, with anything MIDI or synth-ish, I look at it and go "whaaa"
AutomaticGainsay (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
MIDI didn't show up for another 10 years after this model came out!
DrummerCoCa (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
This thing is sweet! I don't know how to work synth and midi-type things tho. The theremin is the only Moog instrument that I know how to work.Btw, they're about $2500 if I'm looking at the right one.
