Because the research he made, the "hill" he reached, is surely new for everyone in the world. No one will have to make that research anymore. When you go online, you don't have to invent internet, do you? somebody already simplified that task for you, right? Theo Jansen is simplifying that invention for everyone in the world. That's "progress for the entire human race".
