I am not an opera aficionado, but in my opinion Kiri sings this better than all the others. It brings tears every time.

I think here the microphone was being used for recording purposes, not to necessarily amplify the sound. I might be wrong, but thats just what im assuming, because there are plenty performances by her where she is not using a microphone.

It's disgusting! Two years and they are gone, they are the new fakes for the new generation coming through (5-10 year-olds) and are using microphones. Well at least they don't fool me by putting them down the end of the stage! This must be stopped!
