A northbound Palouse River & Coulee City RR (PCC) train seen heading north along the former Northern Pacific's Palouse & Lewiston route in April 1998 (I think). Runbys at Belmont, McCoy and Spangle. Southbound runby at Plaza. Engines 2268 and 2357 are both former Conrail (ex-PC, nee-PRR) GP-35's.

From what I have been able to gather the Washington & Idaho RR runs when ever needed, where ever needed. They run most week days, and have done two weekend runs that I have been aware of. The best chance of action is on weekdays north of Oakesdale.

This is the former NP "Palouse & Lewiston" line. It skirts the Idaho border from Marshall, WA to Pullman, WA, then ducks over to Moscow, ID. It used to extend from Moscow to Lewiston, ID, but that section was embargoed about 1983 and the rails were pulled up in '99, I think. The rest of the line is intact, but the PR&CC has called it quits and instead contracts with the Washington & Idaho RR - that uses leased PR&CC engines - to operate the line. I am unclear how often they run.

I agree, I think the Leslie 5 chime is the best sounding horn ever. Where exactly in WA is this?

Cool video! Are those GP35s? The 5-note Leslie horn on the blue loco is quite nice.
