Those videos have been shot by mathias Ledoux for his last film "New York jazz ballad" (2005) dealing with NY jazz clubs. It was produced and broadcasted by the french division of the french&german channel "Arte", one of the finest channel on earth.Sadly, I don't think it's available on video.

Does anyone know where these videos are from, or if they're available anywhere?

Those of you in 'the know' and with tastes for modern European jazz will know that Maria has here been heavily influenced by the compositions and big-band arrangements of British based Kenny Wheeler. Kenny has employed Norma Winstone's voice in his arrangements for decades. No criticism of Maria's work intended. Her work is immaculate in its conception.

ps. this recording does not do Gisberts tone justice and I personally prefer him on trumpet.

This is my favourite of her tunes. The orchestration is brilliant- i love the yearning of the bass with the dark reed tones and transcendant voice.

I don't know about most beautiful, but anything that's lacking is surely made up for the fact that she organizes, conducts, and writes for arguabley the best big band in the world and she studies with Bob Brookmeyer.I need a woman like that in my life.
