am I the only one who thinks the guy with long black hair next to the blonde one looks just like slash without the top hat?

There are many debateable points in your post. Vai's compositional abilities are unmatched in the "shred" world. His instrumental rock is not the best representation of his abilities, and in order to accurately guage I think one should listen to his sound theories material. As for Shawl lane being the fastest guitar player, no. MAB forum junkie did not include what he calls "spasmadic arm technique." While this may be in no way musical, it eliminates many people...

You're spot on. I'm not saying Vai is bad. Not at all. I just fancy Nuno's music over his. They both practiced for hours a day to get where they are.

You're right, everyone has their opinions it's just that I've been enlightened. XDReally, I just wanted to initiate a dialogue.I think we can all agree that shred is really awesome.

I couldn't disagree more. Yes, what music is good is debatable for the listener. You're opinion on Vai being a better composer is an opinion. I actually have to agree with Yngwie who said he's always found Vai's compositions choppy and muddled. I agree, they all sound the same. As far NPS, this isn't reliable. I recently picked up a guitar magazine that had Shawn Lane, if I remember correctly, with the fastest nps. MAB wasn't even in the top and he has the fastest fingers i've ever heard |
