I believe him. CR seems like such a commitment though that not unlike religion, you cannot allow doubts of any kind to creep in and since eating so few calories would seem to be associated with less and not more energy, anyone sold on the idea would not probably be able to evalutate their energy level in an unbiased fashion. Something like an observation from another neutral person would mean more. He didn't SEEM very energetic, in fact he looked and seemed a little lethargic.

I will not completly dismis the ideas totally. However, if caloric restriction on humans expands life....then why are people in some countries who seem to eat less by circumstances are not living longer? I'll eat until I'm full not stuffed and I'll eat and exercise intelligently...If I live longer great...if I die younger thats ok too.

Michael has been on CR for 9 years, and most people like him report more energy when on CR...

Someone saying they have more energy is probably not very useful information in this case, since, if someone is sold on an idea, they are often not ready to admit anything bad about it. One thing though might be the increased business or activity that would come from concentration of any stimulents like caffeine on an empty somach and result in less sleep. Larger meals make a person feel tired as the blood is shunted from the brain to handle digestion. I'll wait for that magic pill, I think.

extroardinary. They key is to get the proper nutrients while doing this and the problem with today is, everything from fruits to vegetables are depleted of the essential nutrients so you have to eat more of them. Most people don't realize that Americans are starving, doesn't matter if they are fat or not.

Very informative, I should start doing this because I'm overweight.

I have cut out white sugar, white flour, white potatoes, and most red meat. I base my diet on brown rice, beans/legumes, green vegetables, chicken, salmon/mackarel, eggs, and green tea. I feel a lot better and am losing that small gut I had. I still have an occassional small steak and maybe a quarter of a baked potatoe.I bought a 20lb of brown rice for $12 and beans run me around a $1 a pound plus the green vegetables and an occasional package of chicken. My food bill has gone way down.

I used to eat 1200 cals a day for years but since then have increased my cals to 2000 or more. When I do CR I have less energy...not sure why these ppl say they have more. When you lose cals, you are losing energy for the day.

Caloric Restriction is a science, it is proven to affect longevity. Ever heard of the food pyramid? You do need fat and lipids in your diet to recive what your body needs.
