Drummer Paul Murphy formed and recorded this group at CBS and one year later at RCA NYC , 1981. Paul was still a long standing member of the Jimmy Lyons Quartet. Jimmy believed in Paul's musicianship and approach to composition. Drummer Paul Murphy and Pianist Composer Larry Willis are now at the forefront of American Jazz. " A Prayer For All Ages " LISTEN ! ! ! !

I'd also like to mention how amusing it is that the chaotic nature of this music is the reason for how consistent it is in its lack of structure.

I think that in order to enjoy this type of music, you have to have a pre-acquired taste for atonality, cacophony; really, just noise in general. I love everything about this, but totally understand those that think it's complete garbage.

jimmy lyons was the saxophone player on many classic cecil taylor albums. YOu check out unit structures for it is a masterpiece. He was one of the notable free players and his group with cecil taylor is highly influential
