Love Vic's reaction when he realizes Shane was telling the truth.

Yea, I agree Vic has admitted all the shit and once they ruffle through shane's shit they would find all the blackmail book anyway which would probably be enough to put ronnie away. But I agree it's a fake show and having ronnie take the fall is more symbolic then legally substantive.

Dude; Just to reply back one last time, it's a fictional tv show. In reality, Ronnie is nowhere right now, because he isn't a real character in real life. The writers clearly want us to believe that Ronnie is the ultimate fall guy for all of the ST's dirty dealings, and so that's how it is.And no, for the record, there doesn't "have" to be evidence. All there "has" to be in a court is reasonable doubt that you are/were guilty of the crime(s) you are being accused of.

rights were never given to anyone arrested on the shield in any season.
BelieveIt1051 (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
Yeah and that's bull crap, because we don't know what happens. We don't even know what he will be tried for. Remember when Dutch arrested him? He said he was under arrest for the last however many years. That is not specific. Most of that was stuff he wasn't even involved in. Plus, Dutch never read Ronnie his rights while he was arrested. Which means anything he said after that point can't be used against him in court. So its one dirty murdering ex-cop's word against a good cop's word.

Again, because Shane's confession would bring an ungodly amount of heat on Vic and Ronnie. Add to this the fact that his confession would not be used to get him out of any kind of spot since he was in too deep. That's why his confession was useless to to Claudet when Shane wanted to get the charges against Mara dropped. I think you just need to study law. Someone can't just point their finger at you and then you go to jail. There must be evidence. A finger CAN put you in an investigation though.
BelieveIt1051 (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
True or not, it would implicate him either way. So Vic confessed to them just in case Ronnie ever tried to tie him to something illegal. The writers missed a lot of things.Shane killed Lem because his confession would have given Cavanua probable cause to get a search warrent for Shane. He then would have found some of the money train cash that Shane foolishly handled. Vic killed Terry to protect the team. That storyline was never pointless.
KevinLockard (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
No offense, but it kind of annoys me how people are arguing that Ronnie may walk away free. It sucks, I know, that Ronnie was the fall guy, but it works perfectly for the story. We are obviously supposed to believe, what-with the way show ended, that Ronnie will be imprisoned for the rest of his life.
KevinLockard (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
And my point in bringing up Shane's murder of Lem was that Shane killed Lem because he thought he might rat, but if Lem had no evidence (which he didn't), then why did Shane feel the need to kill him? It makes that whole scenario pointless. Same goes for Vic killing Terry. And with no evidence, why was Vic and Ronnie even worried about Shane talking if he were caught? Why even bother tracking him down if there was really no hard evidence that Shane could link Vic and Ronnie to anyway?

And the jury will ask themselves why a cop like Vic, who has a very high reputation himself of "squashing dope dealers and putting murdering gang bangers behind bars" would confess to all of those things if none of them were true. As for Army; I think that's probably just something the writers missed or thought that no one might catch anyway. |
