The way I see it, Republicans are still anti-slavery. Think about how many people are dependant on government (welfare, etc) that live in impoverished areas that live in Demodrat districts? Isn't that a form of slavery?

It's kinda strange...the Republicans were the key anti-slavery party back then that made the difference, and all the rich slave owners in the south were democrats...now everything has flipped...alot of people dont realize the history there

I live where these brave men fought. And I have studied the civil war. The war was not over slavery in the least. Yet some people get their mis-information and beliefs from others who are just as uneducated as to the history of this war.If a person wants the real truth, then they need to do their own research like you have.

I'm a staunch Republican, but look at how far our country has come in 200 years. IT'S AMAZING. A black president is hard to swallow for many people, but my gosh look at what our country has accomplished in our short history. Those European faggots have been around for a centuries upon centuries and all they've done is host a few sub-par olypmics.

You can arguing about the reasons for the Civil War, who was right or wrong and all that but there is no denying that these men were heroic and this is a great movie.

no it didn't. The north was trying to oppress the south in almost every way imaginable. I bet they did not tell you that the final straw was that Lincoln did not even appear on the ballot in the southern states. Slavery was just a small part of it. There was a bigger picture.

Thats the horseshit they tell you in the south when you're growing up. I know I grew up there, then I grew up and read a few books... the Civil War had everything to do with slavery.
