Anybody noticed that, probably, for the first time the dancers appeared in the theater...? traditionally, waltz dancers stay in the foyer but this time it was somehow new and differentand in my opinion, very very nice

An der schönen blauen Donau, composed by Johann Strauss II. Georges Prêtre is, in my opinion, the best maestro alive.

When Pretre came to Philadelphia Orchestra to conduct Bolero, it was one of the three best concerts in my 15 years of experience attending that orchestra's concerts.

I actually was a little disappointed this year. Pretre's a fantastic conductor, but I think just not for Viennese waltz. It has to do with interpretation and where the emphasis is placed. The art of the Wiener Walzer is the careful treatment of the infamous second beat..the effective use of Luftpausen. To me, at least, many of the waltzes this year felt too rushed...too...well, French...too much Bal-musette waltz-like. Simply put, the French probably shouldn't conduct Austrian Waltzes.

I agree totally, except those are Vienna HOrns in the tradition of the Vienna Philharmonic

This is actually by Johann Strauss I. The full name is "An Der Schonen Blauen Donau."(On The Beautiful Blue Danube)

THIS CONDUCTOR IS SIMPLY AMAZING! I wish it had been me instead of my cousins playing violin in that orchestra but I broke my hand last year, Those look like double French horns. OMG it's the DANCERS again!I have to turn off the video because I am so busy laughing at them it detracts from the HEAVENLY sound that this wonderful conductor is giving us through the Orchestra!
