Rita said herself She did not identify with the character "Gilda" because she was shy and considered herself more of a dancing comedian. She is qouted again and again saying "Men go to bed with Gilda and wake up with me". Comedy and dancing were her first true loves; sex symbol roles just made her the big money-what smart girl would pass that up?

Oh she was Hispanic all right. Sportschic250, take a look at her studio pictures before 1939as a matter of fact her boss at Columbia Studios-Harry Cohn- even complained, that she "looks to Spanish". For the record, her father Eduardo Cansino, was born in Spain. Good luck on your report.

Rita Hayworth was known for having the most balanced and perfect face and body.I do agree. I dont think shes the most beautyful woman in the would. But she does have the most balanced face of them all. |
