FM in 1948 must have been mostly unheard of. I like how AM is referred to as the "standard brand". Nice unit there.

I had an uncle who worked for Philco, I got a 78 from him with Bing Crosby singing "Wrap Your Troubles In Dreams". It's a blooper recording, he screwed up the lyrics. I have a Philco stereo component that needs an original phono attachment. I think its from the Ford Motor Company era.

Great comment! I, too, have really began to fall for the old Philco's..even though I only have two right now, and the other is in bad bad shape. I passed on these records the first time I found them, but I finally had to go back and get them about 6 weeks later. Glad I did.

I thought I had replied to this. Hmm. Anyway, Thanks for pointing out my rediculous mistake! I have since changed it.

This is unthinkable of the place where I live. America always develope such effective promotional strategies for everything it manufactured.I'm beginning to like these vintage Philcos so much now. Not to mention the extraterrestrial experience of getting to hear such rarity as a demonstration record.Great gift to all record and record changers collectors everywhere !

Ive got 7 more, Many similar with the key words replaced (model numbers etc). But I would love to eventually upload the whole set, especially those that are very fragile or showing cracks. This may be their final spin, and Id sure like to have it captured on film before they go. Not sure when, But Ill try to get some uploaded and will let you know when I do. |
