A nice heartfelt tribute to one of the world's greatest R&B Soul singers.Sadly Big M never got anywhere near the attention she so richly deserves. What a glorious gift and legacy she leaves us.

And could this woman sing some gospel. She was a natural gift. She was a natural wonder. They just don't make voices like this anymore. This is back when singers were not trying to be "cute or fine". They sang because they loved, believed, lived and felt what they were singing.

Big Maybelle has a very large catalog and blues following of her own.

I read about Billie Holiday once refusing to perform after Big Maybelle. Now you know if "Lady Day" couldn't perform after Big Maybelle, she definitely was "top notch". Oh man, what a singer she was! "Candy" remains my favorite song by her. |
