Hallelujah, with Leonard Cohen, Sharon Robinson, the Webb Sisters and backing musicians. Thanks to Michael & Emily Eavis of Pilton, near Glastonbury, England, for the Leonard Cohen gig. Update: Cohen was at the Big Chill, England, 3rd August 2008 (see that on youtube, too). Now it's his big new autumn tour...coming up! PS - Hallelujah was *not* written by Jeff Buckley!!!

True. Drifting off key isn't even such a bad thing really, as long as he pulls it off, which he does. Neil Young couldn't hold a note to save his life. He just warbles, but he's brilliant. And Van Morrison- well, I'd like to see him hit a steady beat. But similarly, he's brilliant. Just like Leonard Cohen.

A true MASTER....!

I threw a pencil case at a girl the other day for saying, "Hey! That's that Rufus Wainnwright song!" -shakes fist-On a happier note, Leonard Cohen is coming to Perth February. =D I hate to hear myself saying it, but if it wasn't for that wretched accountant of his, he wouldn't be back on tour.

Oh mercy, you've got me there. Excuse me while I kill myself for my hypocritical character flaws.

Why would you think that? Either than people who are Indy fans are dickheads or that they don't know who wrote the song? You're making baseless assumptions and hurling insults at people on the back of them. Sounds like the kind of think a dickhead would do...

Oh, sadly true. It hurts me so much just thinking of that.

the sad thing is you just know the indy dickheads in the audience are thinking "Hey look he is covering Jeff Buckly"

So is listening to beethoven nostaligia? no, didn't think so. and is Cohen past his peak? dunno - his pieces of a few years ago were excellent...we'll have to see what his new material is like before premature judgement is made. look, he's touring because he needs to top up his pension pot, and if his voice drifts off key occasionally, who gives a sh*t, lol. He has already made his mark on the world with his song writing and is adding to his cannon.

this number at glastonbury was as fresh as the day it was born...imho, of course.

"Bad performance"? This was probably the most electric performance I've ever heard of this song. By anyone! It's passionate, knowing and simultaneously solemn and wistful. And his "out of tune" singing (such as it "was") is nothing new for him. All things considered, he sings this masterpiece BETTER today than he did 20 years ago, imo. Nostalgia shmalgia. This one's a keeper.
