Not realistic? Not according to a vet who saw the movie

They say that the casualties were so bad on landing that Eisenhower was considering calling off the invasion. Naval and air support helped support the infantry, thank God.

Also, this movie isn't too realistic. The forces were much more spread out and the soldiers could actually walk. There was machine gun fire, yes, but it was distant and inaccurate. The only place I can think of where the fighting would be this intense is around Point Du Hoc where the cliffs were vertical with German troops up top, shooting down and lobbing grenades. Though, I wasn't there. I just have the information I attained from books.

Let's pray that we never see another war like this.

I am a hungarian and i feel a lot of sorry for these soldiers and for my country. Unfortunetaly we fought on the "dark side". We wanted to join to the allies, but Hitler knew that and he sent the Wermacht to Hungary. They killed many humans who sympathized with the americans and he sent 500.000 hungarian jews to the death......Respect for the United States of America and the other countries who deafeated the germans.
