Orrin Keepnews, the Genius of Riverside Records said, "that he couldn't discuss EVANS with other piano players back in the day- they couldn't stand the direct comparison to Bill"- could not figure out what he was doing..... I still can't after 40 years..It's like having Ravel, Debussy and Satie coming back through Bill; and gone Impressionist Jazz on us... how incredibly lucky we are to have been a part of his music/soul - well, they'll never, "Turn Out the Stars" on Bill.... even in 500 years.

Also, at the beginning it appears he plays a few notes reminiscent of Gershwin's "I Loves You Porgy".

I agree he's the best. This tune also opens that marvelous album "Waltz For Debby", live at the Village Vanguard. Brings back some beautiful memories!
