Interview with the owner of COSMOS Records on February 21, 2008, the day after a large fire claimed a heritage area block on Queen St W, Toronto, ON Canada.COSMOS West Records is located at 663 Queen St W and COSMOS Records is located at 607A Queen St W, Toronto, ON Canada. The record stores specialize in collectable Jazz, Soul, Latin, Brasilian, Vintage Rock, Disco, House and Hip Hop. Like many of the businesses in this area of Toronto, they are specialy shops with a distinct vintage flavour that attracts people from around the world to shop, dine and attend entertainment venues in this area.The COSMOS stores escaped the fire destruction that occurred directly next door to them, and are now open for business, as are many other thriving businesses in the area after the fire. In this video the owner is standing outside of his store on the east side in an area frequented by graffiti artists for many years. The "416 Graffiti Expo" got its start at this location, and the Style in Progress http://styleinprogress.ca graffiti event often use this location known as the Queen St West Alleys 'Rush Lane' for their events.Cosmos Records can be contacted online at cosmosrecords@yahoo.ca .They are supporting a fundraiser for the Queen Street West fire victims being held across the street from their store at the Bovine Club on Saturday March 15, 2008. Popular local rockers 'Billy Talent' will headline the evening's fundraising efforts. All funds from the evening will be donated to the Scotiabank Trust Fund for the Queen Street West Fire Victims. The fund will be distributed evenly to those residents who lost everything in the fire. The fund is being administered by City Councillor Adam Vaughan's office to ensure the funds are equitably distributed. As of the week of this video posting $18,000.00 had been raised.
