A lot of people get spoon-fed a slanted version of history in school that the Civil War was about slavery and racism. It wasn't. The biggest issue was states' rights and the Southern states broke away because they believed that the Union would only continue to take away their right to govern themselves as they chose. The Emancipation was largely a means to destroy the South's slave-based economy during wartime. I'm glad Emancipation won but I can't say the South was entirely wrong.

I think you're friend needs a geography lesson if he's wearing the southern flag in a northern statebut it symbolizes different things for different people...for a lot of northerners it symbolizes slavery and secessionist and a failed attempt to break up the union....I don't know why southerners think its so awesome but eh

The confederate flag means different things to a lot of people. I think it symbolizes heritage, and shows the beliefs of Americans that were resisting industrialization and feared change. Others think it is only about racism, and with idiots like the KKK using it to spread thier idiocy. Bottom line is these kids dont deserve to be persecuted for it.
