This IS the Andraus building fire. Megaknyaz is correct about the death toll. The fire was not and AC unit (unlike Joelma) but an electrical problem. Many people were helicoptered off the roof. At it's height, the flame front was the tallest ever recorded at 300 ft.

Many of you don't know, but this tragedy in São Paulo, in aerly 70's, has inspired the film "Towering Inferno"! When it's happened, the build was a office space of a bank! The cause of fire were a malfunction of the air-conditioned system!That's sad day for the São Paulo, and Brazilian, people! Nowadays, this building exists in São Paulo, yet! But, as a garage and have some empty "offices" that never been used or rent (nobodyz wants by the remembering of the episode)!

At the time of the fire, many thought the building could colapse, but after the experts have surveyed it they said the structure was still intact. Probably because the mainframe of this building is made of reinforced concrete, and not steel, which is the case of the WTC towers.

Why doesn't "Thermal Expansion" make this Building collapse in 6.5 Seconds into the path of the most resistance at free fall speedfor the first and only time in History/? OH!! I know! Larry Silverstein didn't buyit Months before with Terrorism Insuranceand order the Firefighters out by saying"The smartest thing we could do was "Pull it""And we made that decision to "PULL""And we watched the Building collapse" HA,HA,HA,HA,HA,HA,HA,HA,HA,HA!!!!!!!TERRORIST ARE GONNA GETCHA!!!

Interesting that this building didn't fall I thought all buildings that have fires...melts the steel and they fall. Happened 3 times on 9/11!

Terrible fire in 1972. Who is those times never forget. The incendio began at 3:00 pm and it was a monster fire with 300 m height.The building exists until this time and still scares. I think that if you change the title for Andraus fire 1972 will receive a lot of visits. I have a lot of magazines and documents about this monster incendio here in Sao Paulo. But this video is very rare in these days.
